If you suffer with blotchy skin, sucking on an ice cube can be very effective. There are nerves at the top of the mouth which are connected to the blood vessels in the face. By touching the nerves with ice they are receiving a message to constrict. This constriction helps to even out skin tone.
Gently apply a good eye cream or gel to moisturize the delicate skin around the eyes and to repair, hydrate and smooth the skin. The skin around the eyes is very delicate so the best way to apply the cream or gel is to dab it on using your ring finger. Ideally, store your eye cream in the fridge to keep it cold. Coldness helps to reduce any puffiness of the skin so using a cool eye cream or gel will help you to look more bright eyed and alert!
You might be tempted to use more concealer, foundation or powder to hide any blemishes, uneven skin tone and dark circles around the eyes. This isn't a good idea because using too much will make sallow, dull skin look much worse. To achieve a fresh-faced look use a tinted moisturizer which contains an SPF. Tinted moisturizers even out blotchiness and unevenness while still letting skin show through, whereas using a heavy foundation or concealer will only mask the skin. You could also use a targeted skincare product such as Dermalogica's Extreme C which is a unique powder to emulsion treatment containing brightening agents and exfoliants including Glucosamine, White Tea Extra and Algae Extract.
This can be applied directly over areas of unevenness or blotchiness, or a pea sized amount can be mixed with your moisturizer and applied to your face and throat. If dark circles around the eyes still show through, lightly dab some concealer around the eyes. A light application will hide any shadows and dark circles without looking caked on and heavy.
