Red Nose Help

Avoid being called Rudolph!

Red Nose Day can be a lot of fun but having a real red nose is far from a laughing matter!  In colder weather it's not exactly uncommon to have a scarlet hued schnoz, either because of bad colds or because of THE cold.  Our bodies respond to cold weather by constricting blood flow to areas that are non-essential (and our noses are deemed to be one of those things, believe it or not!) and the blood is redirected towards our heart, which preserves body warmth.

The constricted blood vessels periodically dilate which allows a rush of blood to the area before the vessels constrict once again.  When we go from the cold outdoors to a warm indoors this can happen all the more, so our noses can alternate from being pale to a rather dazzling 'rosy' shade - just like a beacon!  Applying a sunscreen can help because the sun can aggravate any redness.

Also, applying a green tinted concealer will tone down any facial redness.  Blend in the concealer, apply a little foundation over the top and then dab on face powder to 'set' it.  This won't miraculously make your red nose disappear but it will definitely tone down any redness so your nose won't be a glowing focal point of your face!
