Avoid A Grey Looking Complexion
If you’re finding that your skin is looking washed out, dull and lifeless then there are many reasons why this could be. There are also easy ways you can transform your skin from looking grey and in desperate need of rejuvenation to being clear, soft and dewy!
Our skin is the body’s biggest organ so it’s important to pay attention to its needs and to look after it. If your body is unhealthy on the inside, this will be clearly reflected in the condition of your skin. Put in a little effort to maintain your body, as well as a good skincare routine, and your skin will thank you for it! One reason for skin looking lifeless is the change of seasons. Skin can look grey and dull, even chapped and sore, during the winter when it has been subjected to the harsh elements and overheated homes which can sap moisture and life from skin. In the summer it’s exposed to harsh sunlight and, unless it’s protected properly with a good Dermalogica solar defence product and moisturised regularly (which should be done throughout the year anyway!) it soon starts to look dry and frazzled! It’s hardly surprising that, faced with these onslaughts, our skin may quickly begin to look the worse for wear and in desperate need of help! Another, very basic, reason for skin looking dull and lifeless is dehydration. Many of us don’t drink anywhere near enough water for our bodies’ needs. To keep healthy, and to keep our skin supple and clear our bodies need plenty of water. The recommended amount to drink is at least 8 glasses per day, which may sound like a lot but it’s really not that bad and it’s simple to get that amount into your body (of course, it will mean that you’ll be visiting the “rest room” more often but that’s not a bad thing either - toxins will be flushed out of your body and you’ll be more purified!). Once you get into the habit of drinking plenty of water you’ll soon notice the benefits. Not only will your skin be clearer and more luminous but you’ll feel better all around. One of the main causes of headaches, for example, is dehydration. Many times people aren’t even aware that their bodies are acutely dehydrated. That dehydration can trigger severe headaches which, more often than not, are mistaken for stress headaches. So, get drinking that water and the benefits will quickly become evident!
